Dr. Phiona Muhwezi

 

 

Qualifications: PhD (Wits); LLM (Cantab); LLB (Mak); Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC).

Dr. Phiona Muhwezi Mpanga is a researcher and lecturer at the School of Law, where she currently serves as the principal investigator of this pilot project.  She joined the Department of Commercial Law in 2001.  She has researched extensively on socio-economic rights such as access to water and sanitation services; access to social services and the interaction between social services and electoral politics; and how environmental rights interact with human rights.  She teaches on both the undergraduate and graduate programme. She currently teaches Labour Law and the Law of Torts to undergraduates. At graduate level, she teaches The Law of the World Trade Organisation and International Environmental Law.  Her current research interests are in the area of employment law and environmental law.
